Senior Lecturer, Early Years

Heather Munn is senior lecturer for Early Years in the School of Education at the University of Greenwich, where she has worked for 5 years.

Heather's background is in nursery management, having run a large workplace nursery for two universities, the larger with a capacity of 102 places. She has also worked as an Early Years consultant for a London borough, gaining a wealth of experience supporting practitioners in private, voluntary and independent settings, from nursery to Year 1 primary education.

Heather began her working life with children, spending most of her working life managing nurseries providing excellent care and education as well as expanding provision for a large multicultural nursery.

She has been an LA early years consultant for an inner London borough working across the Early Years Foundation Stage with private, voluntary and independence settings as well as in state schools.

In 2015, Heather became lecturer at the University of Greenwich on the BA Hons Early Years and the undergraduate and postgraduate Early Years Teacher Status courses.

Responsibilities within the university

  • Personal tutor to the 1st year students, supporting their transition into higher education
  • Editor of the Early Years newsletter


  • External examine at Leeds Trinity

Heather has researched mentoring in early years teacher training.
